Join us for the kickoff of our Summer Discussion Series with Sarah St. George, lay leader and ministry student, who will lead the session attempting to answer the following questions:

• What qualities are essential in religious leaders?
• Are religious leaders morally or spiritually obliged to put their lives on the line to defend a cause or marginalized people?
• How much of a religious leaders’ time, resources and/or energy should they be expected to give to those in need?

On Sarah’s seminary application she was asked to describe her “concept of religious leadership.” This got her thinking:

• What qualities are essential in a religious leader?
• Is a religious leader morally and spiritually obliged to put their life on the line to defend a cause or marginalized people?
• How much of their time, resources, and energy should they be expected to give to those in need?

She turns to the congregation for inspiration as she explores her own answers to these questions. An excerpt from the sermon “Transformed Nonconformist” by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be shared.

Sarah brings a thoughtful, compassionate perspective shaped by her own spiritual journey and her preparation for ministry. Join us as we explore answers to these questions – yours, ours, and the ones we discover together.
