Our Governance
At the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Norwich, we believe in shared leadership and transparent decision-making rooted in our commitment to democratic principles. We are guided by the Unitarian Universalist tradition of congregational polity, meaning that our congregation governs itself independently while remaining connected to the broader UU community.
Our leadership team includes the following elected board members:
- President – Provides overall guidance and leadership to the congregation.
- Vice President – Supports the President and assists in key initiatives.
- Treasurer – Oversees financial management, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Church Clerk – Maintains official records and communicates important decisions.
- Two Additional Board Members – Offer diverse perspectives and contribute to decision-making.
You can learn more about each of our elected leaders and their roles by visiting the Our Elected Leaders page, where you’ll find headshots, bios, and contact information.
The Board meets on the second Monday of each month, and all members are encouraged to attend. This open invitation fosters transparency and allows for active participation in discussions about the church’s mission, programs, and future direction.
While we are proud members of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA), we maintain full autonomy in decision-making. The UUA offers resources, guidance, and support, but our congregation holds the power to chart its own course based on our shared values and collective vision.
Your voice matters. Join us in shaping the future of our congregation by becoming a member, attending services, or sharing your ideas and insights.
